Great camera, i bought based on it's independent reviews. I have no complaints about it. We use the Sony handy cams at work and this thing is definitely comparable to those cameras. I didn't give any five star ratings because I'm not a camera guru. I just like this camera. I run windows 7 64 bit and it handles all transfers of video and photos from camera to my computer and then to CD with no hassle. It also takes great pics. . It has a mike but i never use it so i didn't rate it.

OK (when it worked)...... - oakono -
I bought this camera from Best Buy in May, 2009. This July, 2010, the camera has been deemed an expensive paper weight. After approx. 1 year of occasional use, the LCD display failed. I mean it just up and quit working. The camera would turn on and record normally, but that's completely useless as you have no way of knowing what you're recording and no way of adjusting settings. So, I arranged with the Canon support people to send it in to their offices to have the problem checked out. Their findings (whatever they were) were going to cost me 7.00 to fix. Now, I know this camera was out of warranty by only 2-3 months, but dropping 0.00 on a 0.00 camera was hard to swallow so I refused the repair. It's also irritating to know that to diagnose the problem, they must have got it working, and then when I refused the repair, they broke it again and sent it back. I understand warranties and that the line has to be drawn somewhere, but as a company, I'd be embarrassed that a main component of one of my products quit after only one year. The camera was never very easy to use, picture quality was so-so, and dealing with those .MOD files was horrifying. I subsequntly purchased a brand that I was strongly advised to purchase in the first place - Panasonic.
